Silvestri Millwork & Painting is a Brooklyn-based company specializing in custom cabinetry and painting.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York – Mark Silvestri first learned the art of carpentry and painting from his family. A design and architecture enthusiast, Mark began doing custom work in some of New York's oldest homes.

Mark's work is influenced by a respect for period authenticity and modern design. Working in Brooklyn's pre-war apartments, brownstones and townhouses for over 10 years means Mark understands the details and construction (and surprises) of these homes. This helps his clients consider the older features they want to maintain and the ones they want to modernize.

Mark also considers the realities of his clients' everyday lives–and budgets. He works closely with his clients to make practical decisions that account for time and costs. In addition to the quality of his work, transparency and integrity are the reasons Mark's clients work with him time and time again.

A selection of work ranging from custom millwork,
plaster wall restoration, painting and more.

Mark understood the details (and surprises) of the pre-war apartment we bought in Washington Heights. He was un-fazed by our old plaster walls and somewhat small budget. He completely understood the work that needed to be done and helped us prioritize the work to make sure we focused on the high impact work – and the work we needed to do prior to moving in and what we could do down the road.

He was completely respectful of our co-op rules and neighbors, and fully transparent and communicative throughout the project. We finished on-time and on-budget, and I can honestly say I am not sure we could have survived our first home buying and renovation project without him.

We can’t recommend Mark enough, and look forward to working with him on many future projects.

Mark Silvestri created built-in shelves and a cabinet for our air conditioner earlier this year. The shelves are really handsome and the project turned out great - I definitely feel it adds value to our home, as well as some much needed storage.

Mark built a set of custom bookshelves for my apartment. He was painfully accurate in his planning, on time with his execution, and his price was very fair.A year after he did the work, I emailed him to ask about touching up the bookshelf. He came over & did the touch up for free!I would wholeheartedly recommend Mark for any job.

We enjoyed working with Mark from start to finish ... and the finish includes our stunning floating shelves, which he designed in consultation with us. He was prompt, thorough, responsible, and skilled, with excellent results that make us happy every time we walk into the living room.

Mark built me a beautiful custom sliding door closet with moldings in my bathroom. It was a very awkward space that wasn’t being used due to the location and shape of the space. He drew up designs on his computer and emailed them to me for approval. Mark and his right hand man were very polite, trustworthy, reliable, and cleaned up beautifully. It looks like the closet was always part of the bathroom and unlike most contractors, Mark started and finished the job in the timeline that he initially promised me. I would hire him again in a minute.
